Dave Luebke, LumiShield CEO, presented the company’s elevator pitch at the TransTech Energy Conference held in Morgantown, West Virginia on November 5th and 6th. From a field of seventeen companies, LumiShield was awarded the $5,000 runner up prize. Conference attendees included entrepreneurs, investors, and interested companies from across West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.
The highly prestigious grant will contribute $150k in non-dilutive funds to help commercialize the aluminum plating technology. It also qualifies LumiShield to apply for supplemental funds including the Phase II SBIR award, which could be up to $750k. See award.
The $50k grants are designed to encourage commercialization of CMU technologies by funding research personnel to work closely with faculty (in this case LumiShield’s CTO Prof. Hunaid Nulwala) on development. For LumiShield, the award means an additional full time researcher helping to optimize the plating process and move it toward commercial demonstration.
